1. Metso screens go dry down to 0.3 mm
On Wednesday Metso unveiled the GFF Series at its Metso Summit, screens that combine flip-flow and linear motion to classify dry material down to 0.3 mm with no process water. President and CEO Sami Takaluoma framed the Summit launches as improving "efficiency, reliability and long-term value across operations." For plants dealing with blinding on fine decks, or managing water they would rather not need, this is a spec worth comparing against your current setup.

Mellott, Metso's distributor in the US East, published a 10 point checklist by Emmaline Moser on Monday covering the signs that wear parts are at the end of their life: throughput decline, changes in product shape, increased vibration, visible liner wear. These indicators tend to show up well before a failure does. If more than one applies to your plant, it is worth pricing replacement liners ahead of the next scheduled shutdown.
